Arc Greater Twin Cities Board Elects Officers for 2010-2011
The board of directors for Arc Greater Twin Cities, a nonprofit agency that serves the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has elected board officers for 2010 - 2011. They are:
- Chair – Steve Hayes, Plymouth, rubber brand
- First Vice Chair – Debbie Harris, Eagan
- Second Vice Chair – Peter King, Stillwater, Merrill Lynch
- Secretary – Amy Hewitt, Ph.D., Minneapolis, University of Minnesota Institute on Community Integration
- Treasurer – Eduardo Montes, West. St. Paul, Wells Fargo
- Immediate Past Chair – Tom Judd, Excelsior, Fredrikson & Byron, P.A.
Arc members elected seven directors for three-year terms at Arc’s annual meeting on May 22, 2010. Six of the directors are returning and one director is new to the board. The recently-elected directors are:
Debbie Harris served previously on the Arc Great Rivers board of directors and joined the board of Arc Greater Twin Cities in 2007 after the merger of Arc Great Rivers and Arc Hennepin-Carver. She served as board secretary in 2008 and as second vice chair in 2009.
Steve Hayes has been a member of Arc’s Marketing Committee from 2002 to present and was elected to the board of directors in 2003. He served as board president in 2009 -2010. A public relations and branding professional, Hayes plays a key role in Arc’s strategic planning and message development.
Amy Hewitt began her association with Arc as a member of the program advisory committee in 2000. She joined the board in 2002 and became board secretary in 2009.
Thomas Judd joined the Arc Hennepin County board of directors in 1995 and rose through board officer positions from 2002 - 2004. He co-chaired the board of the newly-formed Arc Greater Twin Cities in 2005-2006, served as chair in 2007-2008 and was immediate past chair in 2009-2010.
Mark Kalla, Woodbury, is an attorney with Dorsey & Whitney, LLP. He was elected to the board of directors in 2007 and was recently appointed as chair of Arc’s board governance committee.
Eduardo Montes joined Arc’s Finance Committee in 2006 and soon after was elected to the board of directors. He became board treasurer in 2009 and continues to serve on the Finance Committee.
John Hetterick, Plymouth, was elected to his first term on Arc’s board in 2010. He co-founded No Place Like Home Communities, Inc. (NPLHC) in 2001 and was NPLHC’s first president and executive director. He is now a board member of Project for Pride in Living (PPL), the current owner of NPLHC. He also serves on the board of the National Disability Institute in Washington, D.C., and is a participant in the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities in Washington.
