Carolyn Pare, president and CEO of the Minnesota-based Buyers Health Care Action Group (BHCAG) was appointed chair of the board for the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH) on June 23, where she will serve the position for two years, effective immediately.

Pare has held leadership positions in health care and related fields for more than 25 years. As chair of the NBCH, she will provide leadership and direction to 60 business and health coalitions, and more than 7,000 employers who are members of the NBCH. Member organizations represent more than 25 million employees in the United States.

Pare has also served on the NBCH Board of Governors and the Executive Committee since 2003.

Andrew Webber, president and CEO of NBCH said Pare understands the needs of stakeholders who balance the health care marketplace.

As chair of the NBCH, Pare will provide strategic oversight to the organization and its members. Issues of payment reform, health care quality, public reporting of health care data by providers, patient safety, and health information technology will be addressed.

"The organization's initiatives have historically been at the forefront of innovation in health care, and the forward-thinking, collaborative approach that the member organizations bring to the table will be critical as the implementation of health care reform becomes a reality," Pare said.
