Kane Consulting, a Minneapolis-based integrated marketing and PR firm, received a 2010 Bronze Quill Award of Excellence from The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Minnesota. The company was recognized in the category of Communications Management/Social Media for developing and implementing an integrated marketing communications plan for the Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association (MIMA) 2009 Summit.

Presented at The Bronze Quill Awards Gala on May 13, 2010 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Kane Consulting was the top winner in the social media category. The firm also received a Bronze Quill Award in 2009.

"It's an incredible honor to be acknowledged among my peers," says Jennifer Kane, principal of Kane Consulting. "And, it's especially meaningful to be recognized for our work in social media-- and to see this added as a category to the Bronze Quill awards this year. We don't see social media as a 'cool new tool,' but rather an essential, integrated building block of modern business communications. We were thrilled to see that philosophy echoed and validated this year by IABC."

Kane Consulting has produced the MIMA Summit, a conference on interactive marketing, for four years. Starting in 2007, the firm was responsible for coordinating all of the marketing and communications efforts for the Summit. The plan for the 2009 Summit incorporated both online and offline promotional channels; Flickr, Facebook and Youtube were used as well an iPhone application and Multi-Touch Wayfinding Software.

Kane concludes, "To market an event like this to interactive marketers, we knew we needed to push the envelope with our social media marketing and communications. Many of the tools and technologies we used for this project were new to both this event and our firm. Although the implementation was fast-paced and challenging, it was also exhilarating and incredibly rewarding. As we often tell our clients, when it comes to social media, 'We, quite simply, love this stuff.' Recognition like this award helps add to that enthusiasm."
