The FAB Awards, presented by the Northland Chapter of the International Interior Design Association honored Ryan Companies US, Inc., a company that has served communities for more than 70 years, for the construction and design of the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and Colin Powell Youth Leadership Center in Minneapolis.

IIDA member firms throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota were considered for the award, which honors artistic and innovative design.

The Ryan-designed project won in the category of Best Government/Institutional Interiors for its work. The company’s design goals were to create a shared facility that reflects two growing organizations, which serve 500 students and nearly 25,000 individuals each year.

The expansive project, which brought together five building typologies, including a high school, a gymnasium, an auditorium, a library and a leadership center, utilizes space and creativity – subtle tweaks in wall angels, and windows and doors that maximize views of downtown – add to its modern design.

“Our integrated team of architects, interior designers, engineers and construction project managers were able to deliver a truly great design while working with donated materials, a tight budget and a fast-track schedule,” said Will Jensen, vice president of architecture and engineering

He said the project is most significant because of its impact on the community and its children.

“Being acknowledged with awards that recognize our design is icing on the cake,” Jensen said.
