The 2014 Minnesota Cup finalists are diverse, with five teams co-led by women and six from Greater Minnesota
On Aug. 18, the Minnesota Cup officially revealed the 21 startups that will advance to the final round of the state’s entrepreneurial competition. Three finalists in each of the seven categories were selected out of 70 semi-finalists teams.
Divisions include Food/Agriculture/Beverage, Energy/Clean Tech/Water, General, High Tech, LifeScience/Health IT, Social, and Student.
“Representation in this year’s Minnesota Cup competition finalist pool is deep and wide,” Melissa Kjolsing, executive director of the Minnesota Cup, said in a statement. “We’re reaching a broad range of entrepreneurs from across the state. I’m so pleased to point out that in 2014, six of our finalist businesses hail from Greater Minnesota, and five finalist teams are led or co-led by women.”
The finalists in each division will give live presentations on Aug. 26 and 27 to their division review boards, followed by a question and answer session. One winner in each division will be named during a Sept. 10 reception.
