Ribbon cutting ceremony, tour and vision of future plans
Grand View Lodge hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 19, 2018 with many promiment business leaders, the chamber of commerce and media in attendance. CEO, Tom Juliano, and GM, Mark Ronnei toured guests and shared the vision for the Grand View expansion. They're not just building to expand but to meet the changing demands of guests.
The Cote Family Destinations is investing $30 million to into its three current properties Grand View Lodge Spa and Golf Resort, Tanque Verde Ranch, and Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert. With plans to be ready for summer guests next year, a 60-room boutique hotel named North and a new recreation center, Northpark, is under construction at Grand View Lodge.
The hotel is designed by local architect, Nor-Son, which is based in nearby Brainerd, with interiors by the award-winning Looney and Associates. The design is an urban take on the traditional guest lodge - think Ralph Lauren meets Tommy Bahama and go to the woods. The hotel will also include a 5,000-square-foot conference room and breakfast area, further positioning Grand View as an ideal location for hosting meetings and events of all sizes.
Northpark will include and exercise area overlooking a sprawling pool so families can each enjoy their own activities without losing site of each other. The space will include a yoga room with a large digital wall that would allow video-based classes or live instructors. This is due to the 24-7 demand for classes. Guests want to work out when it is convenient for them and this will allow for a number of class options to chose from.
The facility will also include indoor and outdoor pools, a cornhole stadium, sand volleyball courts, ice skating rinks, a basketball court, a secure children’s activity area, mini golf course, lawn bowling, and courts for croquet, pickle ball and tennis. The activity space lends itself to multi-generational activities. Now grandparents, parents and grandkids can all enjoy crafts together or workout at their leisure under on roof.
Grand View Lodge recently opened the newly built wedding chapel and hosted their first wedding this past weekend. By next summer they expect to have wedding lawn adjacent to the chapel for couples to have an outdoor option as well. The new chapel has a charming rustic feel to it with all the modern necessities for weddings. This is an ideal space for an intimate wedding or for couples looking to renew their vows.
Two distinct new residential communities are also under development and will be sold as Resort Rental Ownership—Fairway Pines and the Garden Cottages. Additionally, plans to expand Glacial Waters Spa have also been confirmed. The expansion will include eight new treatment rooms, a year-round Japanese soaking pool, and adding more space to the women’s locker room and relaxation area.
Even though there is extensive development and expansion taking place, the Grand View Lodge cabins will remain, giving guests multiple resort experience options. And of course the food is still amazing so make sure to check out some of the upcoming events this fall.
